Our Take
The HE-R10D was sure to be controversial from the moment the first images were released. Spending some time with it though, it’s clear that HIFIMAN’s team built a great set of headphones. The HE-R10D provides the combination of an addictive tuning and peak closed-back stereo imaging that lifts it above the competition. Read the full review. |
The HE-R10D features large pinewood earcups which enhance the headphone's sonic capabilities. The wooden earcup's large internal space brings sufficient volume and "breathing room" to the driver.
The Topology Diaphragm refers to a diaphragm featuring a special nano particle coating applied to its surface. The result is a natural and detailed sound. The idea behind the new Topology Diaphragm was inspired by Dr. Fang Bian's Ph.D thesis which stated that "differing nano materials have differing structures and each of those materials have its own properties." Therefore by carefully controlling the diaphragm surface structure, you can yield different results in acoustic performance to a degree previously unobtainable.
HIFIMAN uses rare earth magnets in addition to the Topology Diaphragm to provide high sensitivity and detailed response up to 30kHz.
The HE-R10D package includes a detachable cable with 3.5mm termination (1.5m).
