Bloom's Take The Meze Audio Strada succeeds as a closed-back headphone that surprises with musical ease and refined articulation, carving its own comfortable space in the high-end wired headphone arena. Where many closed designs can feel boxed-in or overly colored, the Strada delivers a naturally dynamic and tonally balanced presentation that invites long listening sessions without fatigue. Sonically, the 50 mm dynamic driver at its core brings a controlled low end with satisfying impact and extension, a neutral midrange that preserves instrument and vocal timbre, and a treble range that extends with subtle clarity and refined detail. This balance makes Strada feel both transparent and engaging, capable of offering a harmoniously full-bodied sound that’s expressive without leaning overly bright or heavy. Read our full review. |
Meet the STRADA - a pair of closed-back dynamic headphones crafted for tonal balance and musical intimacy. With its full-bodied sound, excellent noise isolation, and natural sense of space, it delivers a harmonious acoustic experience where detail, texture, and dynamics come through with effortless precision.
A balanced tuning with a focus on control and precision. The low end is tight and well-defined, with a slight bass emphasis that adds punch and body. The midrange remains neutral and transparent, preserving natural timbre and separation across instruments and vocals. The treble extends with subtle energy in the upper region, revealing fine textures and spatial cues while maintaining a smooth overall presentation.
Closed-Back Bliss
The STRADA inherits its design from Meze's acclaimed LIRIC chassis, reimagined around a dynamic driver architecture. Brought to life by hand from premium materials and shaped for a natural, adaptable fit, it holds the same feeling of craftsmanship and comfort in a lighter, more versatile form.
Driver Design
At the STRADA’s core is the dynamic driver first introduced in the 109 PRO, tuned to perform within a closed-back chamber. They kept the driver’s natural character fully intact while refining its behavior to meet the acoustic demands of a sealed environment.
W-Shaped Dome
Made of a carbon fiber-reinforced cellulose composite, the dome can reproduce high frequencies with remarkable detail, clarity, and definition. More durable than conventional alternatives used in dynamic drivers, yet lightweight, this composite helps reduce resonances that may lead to harmonic distortion.
Beryllium-Coated Torus
The torus surrounding the dome is composed of beryllium-coated semicrystalline polymer. By applying the beryllium coating through Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), they increased the stiffness and durability of the driver, while still keeping it light enough to achieve a fast transient response.
These qualities are also enhanced through the grooves on the torus, which are precisely positioned at a 45.5° angle. Beryllium’s high damping qualities also help suppress unwanted resonances, giving STRADA its vivid and transparent character.
Stabilized
The copper-zinc alloy stabilizer, positioned around the membrane, improves the absorption of vibrations to further reduce distortion.
Magnetic Ear Cups
The STRADA benefits from Meze's seamless magnetic ear pad mounting system, enhancing serviceability and providing an easier, more accessible pad-swapping experience without compromising proper sealing.
Exotic Wood Choice
The ear cups are adorned in Macassar ebony, a heavy, dense, and aesthetically pleasing hardwood known for its deep, rich brown coloration punctuated by intricate golden-brown stripes.
Low Weight, Pure Comfort
By combining the precision-crafted frame of the LIRIC with a new dynamic driver system, the STRADA benefits from reduced weight. This translates into longer, effortless listening sessions.
Soft-Padded Headband
The headband cushions are arranged around a symmetrical cross pattern, thus distributing pressure evenly across the head. This design provides a consistent clamping force and maintains airflow, reducing heat and humidity during periods of extended listening.
Built to Last
From their resilient frame to the removable components, every part of the STRADA was crafted with long-term ownership in mind. By combining premium materials with a modular design, they've made it easy to repair or refresh, ensuring they stay in top form for years to come.
